How To Make Filter Coffee

 Hi Dear,

    Filter Coffee is a coffee drink made with milk and decoction. Outside India this "Filter Coffee" is referred as "Drip Brew Coffee".

    Making of this Filter Coffee is very easy. I will tell you how to make aromatic Filter Coffee. For this first you must have a perfect Filter Coffee powder. Am using a Filter Coffee powder which contains 80% coffee and 20% chicory (does not contain any caffeine but resembles coffee in all other ways). Chicory enhances taste, aroma and makes the coffee mellow.



  How to make Filter Coffee :

  To make filter coffee only we need to take 3 simple steps :

  1. Heat 3/4 cup of full fat milk gently and slowly till the milk begins to rise in the vessel. Switch off the flame.
  2. Then in a glass, pour 1/4 cup of decoction (Preparation of decoction explained in detail below) and add 1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar(you can change the measurement  according to your taste) and mix it well.
  3. Then add the boiled milk . Mix it thoroughly until you get the coffee froth. 

        Filter Coffee Ready !!!

       (Note: Do not reheat the mixed coffee )

How to make Filter Coffee Decoction :

    There are 3 simple ways to make the Filter Coffee Decoction.

1. Without any Filter.

2. With the Stainless Steel South Indian Coffee Filter.

3. With the Electric Coffee Maker.

You can choose any one method of your convenience.

First I will tell you how to make Decoction without any Filter :

  • Take a small pan with 1/2 cup (3/4 cup in medium glass) of water and switch on the flame.
  • When the water is boiling, add 3 teaspoon of filter coffee powder.
  • Switch off the flame immediately and cover the pan with lid and wait for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Then slowly take the decoction alone. Leave the residues behind. 

Decoction Ready !!!

Second I will tell you how to make Decoction with South Indian Stainless Steel Filter :

In this South Indian Stainless Steel filter, there will be two chambers Upper (Brewer) and Lower (Decoction Collector).

  • Attach the Lower and Upper Chambers.
  • Add 1-1/2 tablespoon of filter coffee powder in the upper chamber.
  • Add 1/2 cup of fully boiled hot water.The water should be very hot
  • Then place the plunger into the upper chamber. Close it tightly.

Wait for 10 minutes. Your decoction is collected in the lower chamber !!!

Third I will tell you how to make Decoction with the Electric Coffee Maker :

  • Add 3 tablespoon of Filter coffee powder in the filter.
  • Add 1-1/2 cup of water (2 cups of water if the cup is small).
  • Switch on the coffee maker

Wait for 1 minute. Your decoction is collected in the collector !!!

With the freshly prepared decoction, add dark brown sugar and froth it well, then add the hot boiled milk. Your tasty, strong filter coffee is ready now.
